Study goals
The aim of this study is to identify the perception of Brazilians about european Basic Unconditional Income (BUI) and its possible correlations with Brazilian public policies of minimum income in the light of the Theory of Social Representations (TSR).
Relevance / originality
Studying new perspectives in Public Policy within Government Administration strategic aproach. In this context, a problematizing element is added to the discussion about the role of social representations for the maintenance and success in minimum income programs.
Methodology / approach
Qualitative research with triangulation in data collection through interviews; questionnaires, online survey type, based on no-probabilistic sample by convenience (n = 160) and focus group.
Main results
Interviewees had the Bolsa Família Program (BFP) as an objectification for Basic Unconditional Income (BUI).
Theoretical / methodological contributions
Given the resistance and criticism of this Brazilian program, creates a social representation capable of interfering in the perceptions about the Basic Unconditional Income (BUI) in Brazil.
