Study goals
The objective of this technical report is to analyze how the positive personality traits, in particular, characteristics associated with the conscientiousness factor of a project manager, influenced his performance in the project to open a shopping center.
Relevance / originality
Shopping center opening projects are unique events. In this perspective, it is extremely important to evaluate the performance of the project manager, as this factor can be decisive for the success or failure of the enterprise.
Methodology / approach
We chose to use the case study method. Data sources were: (a) document analysis; b) direct observation made by the author of this report, in that event and c) questionnaire answered by the project manager target of this study.
Main results
The results showed that the characteristics associated with the conscientiousness factor, such as organization, responsibility and diligence, positively influenced the performance of the project manager who was the subject of this study, leading him to achieve the project's objectives.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
This study provided contributions to the understanding of the importance of the project manager's personality traits, associated with leadership skills, in the opening project of a shopping center, due to the need for effective management of stakeholders.
Social / management contributions
This work argues that managers endowed with technical and human skills appropriate to the type of project they will lead, promote a healthy work environment, contributing to the good health and well-being of the people around them.
