Study goals
This article aims to analyze the relationship between digital transformation and project management and to identify trends in this topic in the literature.
Relevance / originality
Digital transformation involves technological change, cultural change, and the way organizations work and deliver value, been necessary to rethink organizational strategies and assume new risks. These changes happen and are needed in the most diverse branches of society, and project management helps to change the dynamics of organizations, enabling new technologies, innovations and transformations to be realized.
Methodology / approach
The study uses bibliometric analysis to verify the existing relationship and verify the most explored elements in the theme. The study was limited to using the Scopus database to perform the research, which found 245 articles distributed between 2008 and 2020.
Main results
The results show that the areas of engineering, computer science, administration, and business concentrate most of the studies.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
The study enables the scholars to understand the timeliness of the subjects addressed and the trends for future studies.
Social / management contributions
Through bibliometric analysis were identified eight factors (Change, Technologies, Strategy, Processes, People, Model, Autonomous Systems, and Artificial Intelligence), confirming the extent of the theme, it is current and main themes addressed.
