Study goals
This article aims to identify the antecedent elements of IRSC action in the case of Brumadinho and understand how these elements, together with the observers' perceptions, arouse feelings and influence response behaviors and modify the Triad of Hostility.
Relevance / originality
The global scenario of scandals, immoral and unsustainable practices, the low attention given in the literature to the construct of IRSC and the need to deepen thematic studies related to the recurrence of IRSC actions, make this work relevant and original.
Methodology / approach
This work is qualitative in nature. To this end, secondary data collection observed 32 documents; and primary data followed with semi-structured interviews with experts for validation. The analysis followed Bardin's (2009) content analysis premises.
Main results
As main results, the previous action of IRSC can be highlighted as an antecedent of the new action, as well as a modification of the emotions of the Triad of Hostility, giving rise to the Hexad of Hostility and new response behaviors.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
This work provides a connection between the theoretical fields about the IRSC construct, joining IRSC antecedents with feelings generated in the observer, which influence their evaluation and judgment, giving rise to the Hostility Hexade and response behaviors.
Social / management contributions
The results bring light to the issue of an organization's socially irresponsible behavior and its effects beyond the physical environment, but also to the emotional impacts on society. Therefore, structuring governance and control policies and structures are important.
