Study goals
The objective of this work was to develop an instrument to incorporate the perception of Risk (RP) to the Decomposed Theory of Planned Behavior in the Behavioral Intention to adopt mobility application services in times of COVID-19 pandemic in the Metropolitan Region
Relevance / originality
There is a lack of studies on the motivational factors that impact consumer attitudes and their intentions towards the shared economy, especially to understand how the perception of risk influences the intentions of users of public and shared transport services.
Methodology / approach
A research protocol was followed. An online questionnaire was distributed for data collection, with a total of 598 valid responses. The selected group represents users of the public transport system. Confirmatory Factor Analysis was used to validate the scale.
Main results
The developed and validated scale includes constructs from the Decomposed Theory of Planned Behavior model (Attitude, Subjective Norm and Behavioral Intention), constructs from the Diffusion of Innovations Theory (Relative Advantage, Compatibility, Observability and Complexity), and Risk Perception.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
This instrument will contribute by integrating two of the best known theories (IDT and TPB) and adding the Perception of Risk to the model in the adoption of mobility applications in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo in COVID-19 Pandemic Times.
Social / management contributions
This instrument helps to understand the influence of the perception of risk of transmission of contagious diseases in the use of transport modes as society's response to pandemic phenomena such as COVID-19, an urgent requirement for public policy makers for mobility.
