Study goals
Characterize, through a literature review, the published studies related to BIM and construction management, pointing out their contributions to the national scientific knowledge on this subject.

The research addresses the management of works combined with Building Information Modeling (BIM), a current and comprehensive theme for involving the entire life cycle of construction and the mandatory use from 2021 on in public projects.

The research addresses the management of works combined with Building Information Modeling (BIM), a current and comprehensive theme for involving the entire life cycle of construction and the mandatory use from 2021 on in public projects.
Main results
With a total of 150 publications, 48 were directly related to the theme, characterized by course completion papers, monographs, articles and dissertations, with a predominance of publications linked to Brazilian universities, mainly in the area of research, BIM implementation and budgeting.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
This work contributes to the understanding of the relationship between construction management and the use of BIM, presenting the national characteristics of studies applied to this theme.
Social / management contributions
The understanding how BIM can contribute to the success of works through its applicability in their management and, due to the authors' particular definitions, it becomes possible to understand their interpretations, since there is no single definition on the subject.
