Study goals
Evaluate end-of-life Li-ion batteries (LIB – Li-ion batteries), which are used in electric vehicles in cargo transportation systems in Brazil, based on the concepts of circular economy (EC).
Relevance / originality
Propose a discussion about the future of electro-mobility and the impacts on the disposal of LIB's at their end of life, in addition to identifying the possible opportunities and challenges related to the use of electric vehicles in cargo transportation.
Methodology / approach
The present research was carried out through the search for scientific articles, in the Scopus and Science Direct databases, which deal with techniques, procedures and evaluations of the circular economy applied to Lithium ion batteries at their end of life.
Main results
The results show that at the end of life, LIBs follow the sequence of use in second life, used in stationary energy systems and later recycled, in which their metals can be reused, generating profit and making the economy go round.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
The research suggests a vast field that can be explored in relation to techniques and procedures aimed at the use of electric vehicles in Brazil, with regard to its main component, the LIBs at the end of their life
Social / management contributions
Study and evaluation of possible opportunities and challenges for the future markets of LIbs at their end of life
