Study goals
The study aims to offer explanations on how effectuation contributes to the early stages of new business creation in lifestyle entrepreneurship.
Relevance / originality
The study presents little explored conceptual relationships as it deals with effectuation and its means in the process of creating lifestyle ventures.
Methodology / approach
A qualitative exploratory research was carried out with 7 lifestyle entrepreneurs. For data collection, semi-structured interviews and documentary research were carried out.
Main results
The dynamism of the effectual means “What I know” and “Who I know” was evidenced in addition to the dynamism of the effectual means “Who I am” as well as the ambiguous and contradictory roles of the effectual means.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
Bringing lifestyle entrepreneurship to the center of the debate in the study of entrepreneurship, associating this new entrepreneurial concept with effectuation.
Social / management contributions
By understanding the distinct way of endeavor of lifestyle entrepreneurs and their synergy with effectuation, the study contributes to the debate and development of entrepreneurial practices distinct from human rationality.
