The main objective of the study is to recognize the relationships between the elements of governance frameworks and inter-organizational project management, identifying how these elements interact in projects involving multiple organizations.

Methodology / approach
The systematic literature review, using Scopus and Web of Science databases, included nine empirical studies. Based on a posteriori thematic analysis, keywords, and essential elements were identified and grouped into specific categories.

The frameworks emphasized the importance of cooperation, coordination, and collaboration between stakeholders, the need for robust governance structures and clear control and coordination mechanisms, and the importance of trust, communication, and alignment of objectives.
