Methodology / approach
To conduct this article, we carried out a survey with project managers and teams, where we were able to evaluate the hypotheses raised in a multiple regression model using the SmartPLS software.
Main results
Transformational leaders positively influence the success of projects, inspiring and motivating teams. Narcissism in leaders does not significantly affect results. Team emotional intelligence, especially in "repair", positively moderates success, highlighting the importance of leader-team emotional connection.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
This work shows that the transformational leader's interaction with his team creates a welcoming environment open to different points of view, which is beneficial for the project.
Social / management contributions
The study demonstrates that leaders who are relevant to organizations, whether due to their leadership capacity or their technical skills, can be used even if they present narcissistic traits.
