Resumo

Objetivo do estudo

Abstract

Study purpose

To analyze the application of helix-based innovation models in the renewable energy sector, identifying their contributions to sustainable and inclusive solutions, theoretical convergences, literature gaps, and opportunities for future research.

Relevance / originality

The study systematizes dispersed evidence on the application of the Triple, Quadruple, and Quintuple Helix models to renewable energy, integrating technological, institutional, social, and environmental dimensions and highlighting the evolution of this research field.

Methodology / approach

A systematic literature review was conducted using Scopus and Web of Science, resulting in 29 articles. The analysis combined bibliometric techniques using Bibliometrix/Biblioshiny with a qualitative synthesis of the studies’ objectives, methods, results, contributions, and research gaps.

Main results

The results reveal the predominance of the Triple Helix and the expansion of the Quadruple and Quintuple Helix models. Key mechanisms include institutional coordination, knowledge sharing, technological innovation, public policies, social participation, and the environmental dimension.

Theoretical / methodological contributions

The study integrates and organizes knowledge on helix models and renewable energy by combining bibliometric analysis and qualitative synthesis. It identifies trends, contribution mechanisms, and methodological, geographical, theoretical, empirical, and sectoral gaps that can guide future research.

Social / management contributions

The findings provide insights for managers and policymakers to structure collaborative innovation ecosystems, strengthening interactions among universities, industry, government, society, and the environment and supporting more sustainable and inclusive energy transition strategies.
