Study goals
The objective of the present study is to identify the learning styles of professionals in different organizational contexts, mainly in IT companies. It is intended to identify peculiarities according to the learning styles that emerge in this research.
In this case, the identification of learning styles can help organizations to define an appropriate process of development and learning.
Relevance / originality
Training and development is one of the factors of great importance within organizations As seen within the Knowledge-Based View (KBV) it is suggested that the primary reason of the company is the creation and application of knowledge, as Demsetz (1991), Grant (1996) & Spender (1996) This being a very important factor, we see the importance of raising the discussion of how Learning Styles can assist in this process.
Methodology / approach
The approached methodology will be exploratory in nature. Having a positivist paradigm. Using survey method, thus being quantitative in nature. The unit of analysis of IT companies.
Main results
With the results of the learning styles of the individuals of the company investigated in this article, a predominant relationship was observed in terms of an experiential learning style.
The mapping of learning styles revealed a certain predominance of two well-highlighted characteristics. In a universe of 21 individuals who answered the presented inventory, we had 40% of them as Assimilators, and 50% as convergent. The rest had 5% accommodation and 5% divergent.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
Theoretical/methodological contributions are the introduction of a theoretical educational model in the training processes in organizations. Training in organizations does not take individual learning styles into account. Taking these styles into account, organizations can benefit from greater assertiveness in obtaining knowledge.
Social / management contributions
Contributions to management can be seen in better use of organizational training. Understanding the model and the learning styles of each individual, the resource can be better used in a specific activity, or in obtaining better results.
