Study goals
To analyze corporate governance practices in the perception of government agents and stakeholders of CEFET-MG, Divinópolis campus, in the light of the mechanisms defended by the Federal Court of Accounts, leadership, strategy, and control.
Relevance / originality
Good corporate governance practices cannot be limited to the business system, they must migrate to the State as well, as they are considered a determining instrument of sustainable development in the economic, environmental, and social dimensions.
Methodology / approach
A qualitative and quantitative approach was used. The data collection techniques were documental research, semi-structured interviews with 9 governance agents, and a structured questionnaire applied to 493 Stakeholders of the institution.
Main results
The educational institution under analysis partially complies with what the Federal Court of Accounts recommends regarding governance mechanisms, lacking improvement, from the perspective of agents and the perception of stakeholders.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
This study contributed to broadening and deepening the understanding and dissemination of corporate governance practices and their relationship, in the Brazilian context, with the public sector, stakeholders, and educational institutions.
Social / management contributions
Efficient management achieves satisfactory results. In the public sector, achieving satisfactory results means meeting the demands, interests, and expectations of stakeholders, and creating public value through practices recommended by corporate governance.
