Study goals
The objective of this technical report is to understand what were the motivating factors in the process of team integration in the context of Merger and Acquisition (M&A) between companies in the financial sector.
Relevance / originality
The study is relevant as it provides an opportunity to deepen the understanding of the motivating factors in the team integration process in the context of M&A.
Methodology / approach
This research used a qualitative approach, based on a case study. Data collection took place through six semi-structured interviews. Documents provided by the company, as well as the aforementioned transcripts, were also part of the sources of evidence.
Main results
The following stand out: (i) the failure or lack of transparency in communication; (ii) organizational learning is a relevant factor in the M&A process; and (iii) the integration of the business team must be treated differently from the process area.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
This research brings contributions to the academy, as it expands the available knowledge about motivating factors in M&A.
Social / management contributions
For management, it alerts companies to factors that must be observed in M&A processes, from planning to integration after the transaction is concluded.
