Understand what has been addressed in the literature on sustainability strategies in project management.
Relevance / originality
Different ways of using sustainability as a strategic factor in project management are demonstrated, which can be applied based on sustainability management.
Methodology / approach
Based on a qualitative approach, an exploratory research was carried out, based on the method of systematic literature review. The aim was to understand how sustainability is used as a strategic factor in project management. A Systematic Review was carried out.
Main results
The main results are evidenced from the understanding of sustainability as a strategic factor in project management, increasing the success factor of the project. Sustainability is seen as a strategic factor, promoting improvement in the social, economic and environmental scope of organizations.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
The main theoretical contribution of this study is related to the involvement of sustainability and strategy themes in the context of projects. Sustainability can be used strategically to provide improvement in the economic, social and environmental factors, and consequently, contribute to success.
Social / management contributions
The contribution to the practice/management is given by the understanding of how sustainability must be inserted within organizations to become a strategic factor and contribute to the success of financial, social and environmental projects.
