Study goals
The main objective of this work is to identify the criteria for success in projects in public management through a systematic review of the literature in two international databases.
Relevance / originality
In project management, there is room for study for contributions on the theme of success in projects, specifically by success criteria that make it possible to assess the success of the project and, in particular, in projects developed in public management.
Methodology / approach
In the article, a systematic literature review was carried out in two international databases, Scopus and Web of Sciente. The research protocol suggested and adapted from Costa and Zoltowski (2014) and Tranfield, Denyer and Smart (2003) was used.
Main results
It is important to emphasize that the definition of success criteria can vary depending on the context, being categorized according to the project phases, critical criteria, CSF, stakeholders, managers and specificities.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
There was an increase in the production of studies and publications of articles related to the theme of success applied to the public sector, however, still related to the private sector, through PPPs, although an increase in articles related to public management
Social / management contributions
Initially, it can be considered that project management is permeated by the interests of the various stakeholders that influence from project initiation to project closure (PMI, 2017), so knowing these factors can help in measuring success in projects.
