Study goals
The overall objective of the research is to propose measures for cost reduction through inventory management in a microenterprise that manufactures snacks.
Relevance / originality
The introduction of the topic within a microenterprise is justified by the need to implement management tools in small-scale businesses that contribute to boosting the economy in Brazil.
Methodology / approach
An applied, quantitative-qualitative research with exploratory and explanatory characteristics was conducted, guided by a case study and literature research. The research process followed the PDCA cycle guidelines and the application of the ABC curve.
Main results
The study's development within the microenterprise allowed us to observe the effectiveness of inventory control methods in a business with variable demands and products requiring regular monitoring to mitigate recurring losses due to spoilage and expiration.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
Through the use of the ABC curve, it was possible to identify the primary area for implementing improvements, resulting in financial savings by directing strategies towards Class A products, which account for 80% of the annual investments in raw material purchases.
Social / management contributions
The challenge lies in finding a balance between working with material reserves and avoiding excessive purchases of inputs, which could lead to losses in utility. This becomes particularly significant when considering perishable products, as exemplified in the context of the company.
