Study goals
Identify how the domain of knowledge about sustainable development goals emerged and evolved in the field of applied social sciences, as well as identifying frontier studies and emerging themes of digital transformation in the field of applied social sciences.
Relevance / originality
The research can be understood as an initial effort that allows increasing understanding of the formation and evolution of the scientific field and presents the current frontiers of studies, thus marking a starting point for future descriptive and causal studies.
Methodology / approach
This is a bibliometric review, carried out using co-citation and bibliographic matching techniques, the sample of 727 articles collected on the Web of Science (WOS) was imported into the VOSviewer software for the preparation of co-citation maps and bibliographic matching.
Main results
The research carried out allowed us to identify, through the co-citation map, the intellectual structure of the digital transformation literature in the field of applied social sciences, eight clusters were identified, with regard to bibliographic pairing, eight clusters were also mapped.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
The main contribution of this study is of an exploratory nature and goes beyond mapping the theoretical-conceptual evolution, its main theoretical influences, existing theoretical currents and current theoretical fronts on digital transformation, since it is an initial research effort.
Social / management contributions
The study makes it possible for managers to identify barriers and challenges in the implementation of digital transformation processes, as well as to perceive strategic benefits in terms of increasing the company's competitiveness and the perception of value by customers.
