Study goals
The study goal is to propose a conceptual model that demonstrates the influence of the characteristics of a family business in the implementation and management of a Project Management Office (PMO).
Relevance / originality
Unlike generic PMO models, the originality of the work resides in considering the organizational context of the family business as sensitive to the PMO's implementation and management.

A theoretical essay was carried out through a bibliographical review of the themes: family business, organizational culture and Project Management Office.
Main results
A conceptual model was created with the aim of building an understanding of the characteristics of family businesses and how they can influence, positively or negatively, the PMO's implementation and management.

The research identified how aspects of organizational culture, decision-making centralization, management professionalization and organizational structure of a family business influence the context for implementing and managing the PMO.
Social / management contributions
The essay highlights particular aspects to be observed by family businesses in the implementation and management of the project office.
