Study goals
To present feasibility and comparative analysis of a PCH with 30 MW of installed power and a UHE with 40 MW of installed power, both with Project Finance.
Relevance / originality
Verification of the level of savings in the best choice of project and investigation of the factors that can lead to cost increases and/or reductions in the NPV.
Methodology / approach
Feasibility Analysis Methodology with the modeling of a 30 MW PCH and a 40 MW HPP.
Main results
The results show that both projects are viable and Brazil has a great economic potential for hydroelectric energy that has not yet been explored, which is extremely worrying and must be reanalyzed.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
The feasibility of a PCH or a HPP can be verified in previous works, thus demonstrating a positive NPV in their conclusions, however, the authors are unaware that a comparative analysis of a PCH and a HPP was carried out.
Social / management contributions
Environmental impacts in the construction of power plants can be mitigated through specific environmental programs. The plant promotes local development, including the creation of jobs in the local community, and is also essential for the security of the Brazilian energy matrix.
