Study goals
Create a business model using the Business Model Canvas tool for the reuse of eucalyptus bark through the production of edible mushrooms in a feasible way for farmers, promoting sustainability in its three dimensions: economic, social and environmental.
Relevance / originality
Among the main uses of eucalyptus and its residues, its use for the reuse and production of edible mushrooms is not highlighted, which confers the authenticity of the proposed project as a form of rural extension and promotion of sustainability.
Methodology / approach
The business model was filled out strictly in accordance with the principles of Osterwalder and Pigneur (2010), seeking a sustainable and promising alternative for the reuse of eucalyptus bark, involving the organization's environmental and social context.
Main results
It is believed that through a feasible business model there is a greater facility for connection between scientific discoveries in universities and research centers and the producers of the projects, the farmers, as a form of rural extension and promotion of sustainability.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
The extension is a fundamental part for the possible realization of a project developed in the academic environment, which often does not have the necessary scope or feasibility to be executed. The BMC contributes to reaching potential achievers in a manageable way.
Social / management contributions
Through the business model developed, improvements and transformations in the reality of farmers were sought through the feasibility of the project, rural extension, job creation, income diversification, environmental education, waste management and mitigation of environmental damage.
