Study goals
The objective of the study was to implement the productivity variation analysis technique as a tool to control the schedule of a civil construction work and to evaluate the productivity indicators obtained.
Relevance / originality
The civil construction sector is facing a crisis of delayed projects in Brazil, resulting from the lack of use of adequate project management methods.
Methodology / approach
In order to use the productivity variation analysis technique, actual production data from activities in a civil work were collected and compared with the estimated production data in the baseline of the project, generating productivity indicators.
Main results
It was observed that the productivity indicators presented an adequate relation between the real and estimated productivity and that the delays observed in the study were the result of the inadequate application of resources throughout the period.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
It appears that the analysis of productivity variation is an adequate method for controlling the schedule of a project and that the evaluation of productivity indicators contributes to the understanding of the causes of delays in an activity.
Social / management contributions
Note that a management system does not need to be complex to be effective. Just find a tool that is suited to the resources and information available in a project and use it accordingly.
