Study goals
The purpose of this article is to describe from the academic literature how Emotional Intelligence (EI) can help project teams. For that, a systematic literature review was adopted based on articles taken from Scopus and Web of Science.
Relevance / originality
From the premise that EI is a factor to promote better performance in the execution of tasks and problem solving in organizations, the objective was to describe from the academic literature how EI can help project teams.
Methodology / approach
A systematic literature review was adopted based on articles taken from Scopus and Web of Science. The base consisted of 236 articles in a process of verification of repeated articles and the application of inclusion and exclusion criteria using Rayyan.
Main results
Based on the analyzes carried out, we can infer that since 2003 the EI theme has been related to project teams, and this theme has grown and gained prominence in the corporate world.

IE has been constantly growing in numbers of articles and citations, as well as the search in the corporate world for solutions that support the emotional demand of its employees, in this field, our research opens the field for future research, given

Articles dealing with teams in project management consider the influence of EI and the performance of teams. Despite being a topic that has been widely discussed, there are few investigations of its relationship with results in project teams.
