Restructure the financial department of a medium-sized company
Relevance / originality
The realization of this study is due to the following problem situation: the studied company is having problems in planning and financial control, with an obsolete routine and process, which does not allow the generation of pertinent information to assist in decision making.
Methodology / approach
To carry out this study, we used the case study strategy, together with professional intervention and direct observation with the object of study. For data collection, an informal interview was used, together with a field diary, where the relevant information for the work was noted.
Main results
Four main problems were found: Problem 1: Lack of computerization; Problem 2: Dependence on other sectors; Problem 3: Lack of financial planning and control; Problem 4: Financial cycle: Payment term shorter than the receipt term. For these problems the propositions were elaborated: Proposition for Problem 1: Acquisition of the Remittance and Return file; Proposition for Problem 2: Integration of the internal system between all departments; Proposition for Problem 3: Development of a cash control; Propositions for Problem 4: Restructure the routines and processes of the purchasing and commercial department, and train employees. A new layout was also developed for the sector studied. After this survey, he found obsolete and defragmented processes and routines, with evident problems. It was also noted that despite being a medium-sized company, its processes are much lower than expected, there is no standardized routine for carrying out its activities, causing the financial sector to present several difficulties for programming and control, both in the subsection of the accounts payable as accounts receivable.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
Regarding the theoretical and methodological contributions, this project will contribute to research in the academic area of applied social, disseminating the knowledge obtained to more scholars and researchers in the area.
Social / management contributions
Even though it is developed in a road freight transport company, the social contribution of this study goes beyond this branch, since most companies have a financial sector, thus allowing the benefit of this information to any interested company, aiming to assist them. them in making assertive decisions, allowing the continuity of the company.
