This study aims to determine the moderating effect of emotional intelligence on the relationship between the project manager's behavior and the project's success.
Relevance / originality
This study innovates in order to assess the effect of moderating emotional intelligence on the behavioral relationship of the project manager and the success of the project. Another relevant innovation was the use of the theoretical lens of high-level theory, which had not been used for this approach.
Methodology / approach
A quantitative study was conducted with the data obtained, through a survey.
Main results
As the main result of this study, the verification of the positive influence of the moderation of emotional intelligence in the relationship between the behavior of managers and the success of the project due to its characteristic of specific experience in the function.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
The application of the concepts of high-level theory to project managers promotes a new horizon in the evaluation of these professionals when selecting the manager in projects.
Social / management contributions
The first contribution to be highlighted is the possibility of evaluating project management professionals by basic characteristics. Another contribution is the result found in this study regarding the relevance of the characteristic of professional training specifically in project management. Thus, organizations should focus more on this issue when selecting professionals. Additionally, project managers experienced in project management with high levels of emotional intelligence positively influence the behavioral relationship with the project's success. This is a relevant contribution, as organizations can evaluate experienced project managers considering emotional intelligence indexes for selecting the right professional for the organization's projects. Finally, another contribution is in the finding that mature organizations positively influence the success of projects.
