Qualitative data were examined in the light of Content Analysis.
Main results
The survey outlined an ARH panorama, based on companies in the Divinópolis region, and signaled the predominance of traditional structures that prioritize activities of an operational nature. The research reveals a diversity of practices and demands for multiple competencies, within the scope of ARH. In view of organizational requirements and restrictions, the development of managerial skills has been based, above all, on individual efforts. The strategic performance by the ARH, recommended in the literature, was not evident in the analyzed context, nor did innovative aspects emerge. It is inferred that possible advances require initiatives in addition to investments in training, requiring reflection on the management practices adopted.
