Study goals
This work contributes in a practical way to management when it presents discussions, barriers and proposals for a better management of benefits, supporting the achievement of success of projects developed in organizations.
Relevance / originality
This work is relevant because it deals with benefits management in the context of project management, a topic which is considerably left out in projects and there are few works with this focus.
Methodology / approach
Literature review, with investigations taking place in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. 20 articles were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. These works were descriptively analyzed with the support of MS Excel and VOSviewer programs.
Main results
An increase in benefits management was noted, but with reservations, as there are application difficulties due to factors such as the impasse in the establishment of benefit assessment metrics and the very results culture that prioritizes the reach of the project's products.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
This study contributes to the literature in that it presents a current review of the literature on benefits management and synthesizes important information and research findings for the debate on benefits management and project management.
