Study goals
Analyze the knowledge bases, trends and possible paths to the field of Attention-Based View (ABV) in an attempt to understand the structural and intellectual influences of investigation.
Relevance / originality
Several questions remain insufficiently investigated about ABV, and neuroscientific tools can help in the investigation and search for answers related to attention in organizational studies.
Methodology / approach
In this article, we performed a bibliometric study using the technique of matching and co-quoting the sample of the matching of 138 articles published in the period between 1997, the year of publication of the article by Ocasio (1997), until 2019.
Main results
Trends and possible paths for the field and its knowledge base were classified into three factors. From this classification, we carry out the proposal of direction for future research in the field of ABV.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
To be able to understand why organizations do things the way they do and why they perform, we need to understand the minds of decision makers, so we present the research fronts and a direction for future studies at ABV.
Social / management contributions
In organizations, decisions are taken considering the channeling and distribution of the attention of their decision makers. They need to focus their energy, effort, and attention on a limited number of issues to achieve sustained strategic performance.
