Study goals
Analyze the contributions of internationalization strategies and financing models adopted by six higher education institutions in Portugal, Spain and France.
Relevance / originality
This technical report is relevant for analyzing internationalization strategies and funding models in European institutions, providing relevant contributions to educational policies. Its originality lies in the direct comparison between multiple institutions and their innovative practices of international academic cooperation.
Methodology / approach
Following a qualitative approach, this study is based on documentary analysis and direct observations. Data were collected through visits to institutions, the creation of an iconographic collection and dialogues with managers, providing an understanding of the institutional practices investigated.
Main results
The results highlight the positive impact of international partnerships on the SDGs and on strengthening educational institutions. Universities such as Perpignan, Toulouse, Coimbra, Setúbal and Girona benefit from high academic mobility and international cooperation, with support from the Erasmus+ and AECID programmes.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
The theoretical/methodological contributions of this study include the integration of internationalization policies into institutional strategies and the importance of diversified funding. Qualitative research, supported by documentary analysis and direct observations, offers a model that can contribute to future academic investigations.
Social / management contributions
Social/management contributions include strengthening institutional internationalization policies, promoting academic inclusion and diversity. This study presents guidelines for the effective management of mobility and funding programs, benefiting institutions, students, and faculty alike.
