This study uniquely explores the literature gap in the field of studies that explores leadership characteristics and actions that engage people and promote attention to Strategy Execution (RdE).
Methodology / approach
Based on the review and synthesis of concepts, a theoretical model is developed from which propositions are generated about the role of leadership in the Strategy Execution (RdE) process.
Main results
This study presents a theoretical model and four propositions on leadership in Strategy Execution (RdE), suggesting reflections for senior management on leadership characteristics and executives involved. The propositions open possibilities for future empirical studies on leadership and corporate RdE.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
By associating elements of mature theories and procedures that contribute to Strategy Execution (RdE), this study enriches the literature on RdE, which, compared to the existing literature on strategy formulation, is little explored and needs to intensify academic production.
Social / management contributions
This study contributes to leadership by highlighting the need for alignment between senior management and executives on leadership characteristics that ensure the right people in the right positions, ensuring the success of Strategy Execution (Rd|E) before appointing and delegating responsibilities.
