Study goals
The objective of the study was to investigate the impact of remote work (home-office/telecommuting) on the following aspects: Work-life balance, Mental health, Challenges faced, Productivity.
Relevance / originality
The study is relevant for investigating home-office impacts, widely adopted post-pandemic. It analyzes work-life balance, mental health, and productivity, identifying benefits and challenges. This aids understanding remote work nuances and the need for adequate organizational support, contributing valuable insights.
Methodology / approach
The research used a quantitative approach, collecting data through a questionnaire applied to 62 professionals working from home. The analysis employed descriptive statistics, focusing on remote work's impact on work-life balance, mental health, challenges, productivity, and recommendation.
Main results
Most perceived better work-life balance (51/62) and increased productivity (45/62). However, a significant portion struggles to disconnect (28/62) and control time (49/62 disagree they easily control time). A minority (7/62) reported negative mental health impacts.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
The study contributes theoretically by contrasting empirical findings with remote work theories. It confirms benefits like balance and productivity but exposes contradictions like difficulty disconnecting and controlling time, enriching the understanding of this work model's complexities and paradoxes.
Social / management contributions
Socially, the research highlights the need for organizational policies ensuring remote workers' well-being and balance. It informs about the importance of corporate support, effective communication tools, and strategies to mitigate challenges like isolation and difficulty disconnecting from work.
