Study goals
This integrative review aims to analyze how competency-based management impacts organizations and to identify the challenges associated with its implementation Based on the analysis of 41 scientific articles published between 2013 and 2023 and indexed in the Spell, Web of Science.
Relevance / originality
Despite its relevance, the implementation of competency-based management faces several challenges. There are few documented examples of its application in organizations, and the literature still lacks in-depth studies that explore the impacts of this model.
Methodology / approach
The integrative literature review consists of building a comprehensive analysis of the existing literature, contributing to discussions on research methods and findings, as well as reflections on the development of future studies (Mendes & Silveira, 2008).
Main results
The analysis results indicate that there is no theoretical consensus on the best way to implement competency-based management, and that the challenges vary according to the breadth encompassed by the tool.
