To systematize, through a systematic literature review, the opportunities and challenges of Artificial Intelligence application in Industry 4.0 implementation projects within the Brazilian graphic industry, classifying them according to the Dynamic Capabilities Theory dimensions.
Fills a theoretical gap by integrating Dynamic Capabilities Theory into the analysis of AI in the graphic sector, an unexplored topic, as prior studies focused on design and digital printing without specifically addressing AI opportunities and challenges.
A qualitative, exploratory systematic literature review conducted in the Scopus and Web of Science databases following the PRISMA protocol, with thematic content analysis of 65 selected articles, incorporating related prior studies on the topic.
Eighteen categories of opportunities were identified, concentrated in the seizing dimension (operational and economic gains), and twenty categories of challenges, distributed between sensing and reconfiguring, showing that the predominant barrier is organizational and strategic, not merely technological.
Offers a novel interpretive framework by linking Dynamic Capabilities Theory to the graphic sector's specificities, moving beyond descriptive factor enumeration to understand AI adoption as a multiphase organizational process rather than an isolated technological event.
It provides managers of micro and small graphic arts companies with an initial roadmap for structuring AI initiatives with limited resources, aligning with UN SDG 9 by supporting the modernization of a traditional industrial sector experiencing a decline in productivity.
