To analyze the influence of functional, social, hedonic, and cognitive motivations on the innovative behavior of technology students toward Artificial Intelligence, considering Domain-Specific Innovativeness and Innate Innovativeness.
The study advances the understanding of innovativeness toward Artificial Intelligence by jointly examining different motivational dimensions and two innovativeness constructs, showing that social and cognitive factors may be more relevant than functional and hedonic factors among technology students.
A quantitative study was conducted with 110 technology students. Data were collected through an electronic questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression in SPSS, with two analytical models being estimated.
Both models were statistically significant overall. Social Motivation positively and significantly influenced Domain-Specific Innovativeness, whereas Innate Innovativeness was significantly influenced by Social and Cognitive Motivations. Functional and Hedonic Motivations were not statistically significant.
The study contributes to the literature by integrating motivational dimensions with two distinct innovativeness constructs, empirically demonstrating that their antecedents may differ and highlighting the central role of the social dimension in understanding innovative behavior toward Artificial Intelligence.
The findings provide insights for educational institutions, faculty, and managers to develop environments that foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, intellectual curiosity, and experimentation with Artificial Intelligence, promoting an innovation culture and educational strategies aimed at the responsible use of these technologies.
