Study goals
This work aims to present the internship carried out by a technician in administration at a Federal Institute, as a strategy for the development of professional practice, relating the experiences of the internship and the knowledge covered in class.
Relevance / originality
Professional practice in technical courses is an indispensable condition for the training of students in this type of education, determined by the Guidelines for secondary-level technical professional education. Thus, it should be recognized as a strategic area for institutions.
Methodology / approach
To carry out this study, a qualitative approach was used with a case study research strategy and the participant observation technique. The use of the approach was understood as the most appropriate due to the characteristics of this type of research.
Main results
In the organization's routines, the student directly perceived the relationship between the contents worked in the classroom and the practice of the profession. The results demonstrate that the internship is an effective strategy for carrying out professional practice.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
The presented result demonstrates that the course project is aligned with the demands of the labor market in which the students are working This investigation process makes it possible to understand whether some type of adjustment is needed in the implemented training.
Social / management contributions
The Federal Institutes have, in the curricular structure of their courses, the requirement to carry out practical activities of the profession as a requirement for completion of the course The present study presents the internship as an effective space for carrying out.
