Study goals
The purpose of the study is to identify the main research interests on stakeholders and competitiveness in the areas of hospitality, tourism, leisure and sports and to propose an agenda for future studies.
Relevance / originality
The research is justified, because when we come across studies on stakeholders and competitiveness in the areas of hospitality, tourism, leisure and sports we observe that the initial studies were published recently, but specifically the first study was published in 2000, in the last two decades the evolution the studies on stakeholders and competitiveness in these areas focused on investigating the role of stakeholders in the development of competitive tourist destinations or in the search to identify the impacts of stakeholders on the competitiveness of hotel developments, however these studies are preliminary efforts in the formation of robust theoretical currents.
Methodology / approach
The study was carried out through a systematic review of the literature, the publications were collected in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, the Start software (Lapes / Ufscar) was used as a tool for the analysis of the publications selected as the basis for the present study.
Main results
The results of this study make it possible to identify the main studies and the objectives of research published in the areas of hospitality, tourism, leisure and sports on stakeholders and competitiveness, in addition to providing an agenda for future studies on the subject.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
The main contribution of the study is the presentation of an inventory of important studies that investigated stakeholders and competitiveness in the areas of hospitality, tourism, leisure and sports, in addition to contributing to the advancement of knowledge on the theme that investigates the influence of stakeholders on competitiveness.
Social / management contributions
This study provides important recommendations for managers of tourism, hotel, leisure and sports enterprises on the role of stakeholders in competitiveness and demonstrates the importance of maintaining a good relationship with stakeholders.
