Study goals
The objective is to describe the business characteristics relevant to the companies surveyed and to identify the behavioral characteristics of women entrepreneurs operating in companies already consolidated in the international market according to the model proposed by McClelland (1972).
Relevance / originality
omen have been assuming an increasingly active role in society, with particular emphasis on entrepreneurship (Silveira & Gouvêa, 2008). Data provided by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor - GEM (2015) show the increasing participation of women in the creation of businesses. Entrepreneurship rates in Brazil, according to gender, show that 49% of the initial owners are women. However, it remains to better understand the role of women in the foreign market, as international entrepreneurs.
The studies on entrepreneurship can be oriented to several different areas, for example the behavioral one is mentioned, area in which this research is located, which focuses on the studies carried out by thinkers such as the psychologist David McClelland (1972), directed to behavior of the entrepreneurial individual (Oliveira, 2010). McClelland (1972) sought in his research to isolate psychological and cultural factors from the entrepreneur and to show that such factors are fundamental for economic development (Boava & Macedo, 2006); (Oliveira, Silva, & Araújo, 2014). Furthermore, the behavioral area is characterized as one of the most prominent research areas (Oliveira, 2010), however, little attention is paid to the entrepreneurial behavioral characteristics of individuals working in internationalized companies.
Methodology / approach
The study of multiple cases was used, which allowed to describe each of the selected cases. Multiple case studies consist of in-depth and detailed research on the subject under analysis and use of different data sources, such as observation of occurrences, situations and facts, in addition to interviews, whether structured or not, among others. means (Rover et al., 2010). For the purpose of this research, the following criteria were adopted: management carried out by women, region, internationalized companies, as well as accessibility selection.
With regard to the first selection criteria, cases were selected with women of entrepreneurial profile who are responsible for managing the business. As for the second criterion, companies located in the western region of the state of Santa Catarina were chosen. Regarding the third selection criterion, companies currently consolidated in the international market were used and, finally, in the fourth and last criterion, the cases were selected because they had access to the necessary information because the interviewees were women owners and / or managers of the companies. concerned.

In addition, the qualitative research of the study allowed to contribute academically to the area of knowledge of entrepreneurship regarding the behavioral characteristics of female entrepreneurs inserted in the international context In relation to the limitations resulting from this study, there is primarily the difficulty in locating internationalized companies where business management is the responsibility of women entrepreneurs with an entrepreneurial profile, which ended up limiting access to the three companies surveyed Another limitation identified was due to the lack of available theoretical framework when it comes to content that addresses the qualitative study of the behavioral characteristics of women entrepreneurs working in internationalized companies
