Study goals
To analyze the sustainable innovation process in two industries of the leather and footwear sector in Novo Hamburgo-RS, Caimi & Liaison and Wolfstore, to demonstrate how they conduct innovation guided by sustainability.
Relevance / originality
The study is relevant for demonstrating the strategic importance of sustainability for the competitiveness and profitability of companies. Its originality lies in analyzing a multiple case study with two companies that have the "Sustainable Origin" certification.
Methodology / approach
The research adopted a qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive approach, using a multiple case study strategy. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews and document analysis, with content analysis.
Main results
The results show that both companies strategically integrate sustainability, but with distinct focuses: Caimi & Liaison prioritizes product innovation, while Wolfstore focuses on process innovation and internal well-being.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
The study offers a valuable benchmark for companies in the sector, illustrating effective strategies for integrating sustainability. It also contributes to the literature by presenting a model for analyzing sustainable innovation in a value chain context.
Social / management contributions
The work suggests that managers invest in employee training, strengthen collaboration in the value chain, improve the measurement of results, and integrate sustainability committees with autonomy. This can inspire the construction of a more sustainable future.
