Analyze the degree of interest, knowledge and application of micro-enterprises in the trade sector regarding environmental and sustainable management practices in São Luís - MA.
Relevance / originality
For Small Enterprises (MSEs), which represent a significant portion of the Brazilian economy, environmental management is essential. The implementation of environmental management and sustainability practices in microenterprises in São Luís MA, the state capital, is of great importance.
Methodology / approach
Original scientific work, a basic and applied methodological study. Of an exploratory nature, given the limited studies on the subject nationally, and even less locally, in São Luís and Maranhão. Significant practical application of knowledge, in analysis of the current situation.
Main results
A sector that is unfamiliar with the concept of sustainability, without financial reserves and a structure formed. Leaders who do not seek out opportunities for knowledge. Environmental impacts are the biggest motivators and the lack of information is the biggest impediment.
