Study goals
Analyze the feasibility of an innovation and connectivity hub between a university and a regional airport, identifying conditions, strategies, and mechanisms that foster interinstitutional cooperation and regional development through collaborative innovation.
Relevance / originality
Explores university–airport integration as an innovation ecosystem, a topic rarely addressed in the Brazilian context, proposing the adaptation of international reference models to regional realities, considering local vocations and collaborative governance strategies.
Methodology / approach
Qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive research based on literature review, comparative analysis of three international cases, and content analysis, integrating theoretical and empirical data to propose adaptations of university–airport integration models to Brazilian regional contexts.
Main results
The hub’s feasibility depends on formalized governance, alignment of strategic areas with local vocations, and implementation of robust metrics to measure economic, social, and technological impacts, ensuring sustainability and continuity of actions in the long term.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
Advances literature on innovation ecosystems by integrating the university–airport perspective, adapting international models to Brazilian regional contexts, and offering an analytical framework based on governance, local vocations, and performance indicators to guide future studies.
Social / management contributions
The proposal fosters regional development through qualified job creation, strengthening of production chains, attracting investments, and business internationalization, providing insights for public policies and collaborative management practices among universities, government, and the productive sector.
