Study goals
This research aims to analyze the limits and possibilities of using Intellectual Property protection mechanisms in the management of innovations in low-tech and high-tech companies, considering their technological and strategic specificities.
Relevance / originality
This study demonstrates the relevance of Intellectual Property protection as a driver of innovation, by presenting possibilities applicable in different fields of activity, strengthening innovative strategies and increasing the value of the knowledge generated.
Methodology / approach
A qualitative exploratory approach was adopted, based on a case study and based on the collection of primary data through interviews and observations, as well as the analysis of secondary data from reports and institutional websites.
Main results
The main findings demonstrate that high-tech companies present strategies and seek greater sources to protect their technology, while low-tech companies use artifices, but seek more viable alternatives to protect their assets.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
The analysis developed contributes to the theory by analyzing two distinct cases of high- and low-tech companies, highlighting different strategies for protecting Intellectual Property and expanding the understanding of multiple realities.
Social / management contributions
This research provided the opportunity, through an analysis based on interviews and observations, as well as the analysis of secondary documents, to observe the limits and possibilities of using Intellectual Property in the management of companies in different areas of activity.
