This research aims to expose the relationships between innovation and sustainability in the context of business and industrial engineering.
Relevance / originality
Identification of terms and concepts related to sustainable innovations in the areas of administration, business, and industrial engineering, seeking to identify patterns that can assist in strategic decision-making in business and research.
Methodology / approach
This research conducts a systematic literature review, considering the "Business", "Management" and "Industrial Engineering" classifications of scientific journals.
Main results
We identified 155 terms and the main concepts linked to innovation and sustainability, which are presented and proposed to the organization in new classifications based on both usage characteristics. We also highlight similarities and gaps between the selected articles.
Theoretical / methodological contributions
This work contributes to academia by compiling the terms and concepts used in the area of innovation and sustainability in an empirical and theoretical context over the last five years.
Social / management contributions
Reinforcing the opportunity for organizations to apply these terms for a more assertive approach and to assist in decision-making in the pursuit of a more sustainable future.
